Retreat is over! After exposing two of the most embarrassing moments in my life, why not one more? But this one got me an iPhone! (Well, I don't want to pay the $30 data service every month, so they gave me an iTouch.) Thanks, OCTA! Here's my winning video for the OCTA Dump the Pump campaign. And to further support public transit, Timothy and I rode the bus to an Angels' game.

Well, the day is finally here! While the ceremonies are going on right now in Beijing, we have to wait 'til tonight. Go China! Go U.S.A.! Go Korea! Go (your countries here)!

The Huangs are still giving away the "Pray for China" bracelets. 20 have been claimed, but there are still plenty of them left -- just let me know. Remember our fellow brethren who suffered for their faith overseas.

Congrats to Tiger! Thanks to my company, my family went to the US Open practice round at Torrey Pine.

This is our family picture. Madeline hasn't looked at the camera for any of our family pictures so far.

We didn't spot Tiger, but we think we saw Rod Stewart. What do you think? We were pretty convinced.

Although we prepped Timothy at home with a toy golf set, Timothy wasn't really into watching golf there. Although he was very happy with his camera -- a folded course map. Say cheese!

As I was leaving for work Monday morning, I was saddened to find that our complex was vandalized by some graffiti artists. Some cars were damaged as well. This just reminds us how ghetto this neighborhood is. In recent years, scandals and lawsuits have drained our association's bank account. Association fees have jumped over 70% in 4 years. With the subprime mess, just two months ago, we had to say good-bye to a neighbor because the bank has reprocessed their home.

Well, while I am being discontent and complaining about my neighborhood in Orange County (one of the most affluent town in the world), across the Pacific Ocean, a devastating earthquake hit Central China. Lately, I don't have the heart to read the news, especially after reading about a village official interviewed by CNN reporter John Vause. He said 3,000 were still missing in his village; 500 were dead, including his parents, his wife, and their two children. And then he had to run off to get back to his rescue work. It's especially hard to look at the graphic images -- maybe because I'm Chinese; all the more, I also have parents, a wife, and two children.

前幾天我準備上班的時候，我發現我們的社區多了一些涂鴉藝術家的創作。一些汽車也遭到破壞。自己也發覺這個地方并非心目中的理想家園。近年來，醜聞和訴訟已經消耗我們的屋主協會的金錢。會費在四年間已上升百分之七十。由於最近的次按危機，兩個月前，我們向一個鄰居說再見。皆因銀行已經回收了他們的家。

話說回來，自己生在福中不知福。當我抱怨我在橙縣(世界上的最富裕的城鎮之一)的家的時候，在太平洋的彼岸，一場毀滅性的地震重擊中國四川。最近，我都不忍心看新聞，特別在看過CNN記者約翰偉斯采訪一名村書記之後。他說他的村仍有3000人失蹤； 500人死亡，包括他的父母，妻子和他們的兩個孩子。然後他又跑開回到他的救援工作。或許因為自己我是中國人吧；其實我自己也有父母，妻子和兩個孩子，所以都不忍心看地震悲情的新聞。

This is a follow up on the last post -- Fianlly, we got a hold of the video of Dr. Siu's New Year party. When we arrived, we saw the event schedule and thought, "No way! This is intense. This can't be our party." It turned out it was. Thanks, Dr. Siu! The video didn't do the party justice, but enjoy!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Wow, it's been almost two years since I've added anything here. Thanks to Mr. Siu, Donna's parents' boss, we went to one of the best Chinese New Year parties around. If I get a chance, I'll share a video clip.

We also got our family picture taken there. It's too bad that the little ones weren't looking at the camera. Mr. Siu knew how to take care of his guests. He put on a great show with a very delicious Chinese meal. "Did you see the size of the abalones and scallops?" My Quarry Bay Queen (a.k.a. Donna) said. Abalone is considered a symbol of wealth and prestige, and is traditionally reserved for special occasions, such as this one.

Okay, more to come... Happy Lantern Festival, everyone!

我們一家也影了張全家福。可惜小朋友都沒有望鏡頭。蕭老板很會招呼人客。表演加宴席，夠嗮氣派。連我的鰂魚涌皇后（我老婆）對著大大的鮑魚和干瑶柱而變成一個大鄉里。“好大粒啊！”

After last night's game, I think I'm converted now.

Keeping with the recent Chinese theme, I'd like to feature some Chinese characters here. I don't want to open a can of worms, so please read the disclaimer on the bottom of this blog before proceeding.

(yi)

The first chracter above means "lamb." The second character is "me." Putting "lamb" above "me," you have the character for "righteousness."
This can be used as an illustration that one is counted righteousness because the Lamb of God who interceded for the transgressor, me.

(chuan)

The first three characters above are: Vessel, eight, and people (mouth). Together, they made the character "boat." This may point back to the flood where Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives, a total of eight people, who were saved by God through the ark.

(nan)

The character "covetness" is made up of two trees, and a woman. Genesis 2:9 mentioned "The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." Eve's sinful desire can be illustrated with the character.

(hsiong)

The first character above is the word for "brother." The second character is the word for "murder / violence." Both were pronounced "Hsiong" in Mandarin. The character illustrated the first murder in history, the killing of a brother.

Irvine lunch was back and we had ten people showed up yesterday for lunch and I believe that was a record. It was great to meet some new faces.

Being an FOB Chinese at Cornerstone, I got some interesting comments from my fellow saints. So allow me to get them out...

I got this question quiet a bit ?ow many Chinese characters do you know??I don't think I know the answer better than the answer to "how many English words do you know?"
One brother commented: "I went to Disneyland the other day and saw bunch of Chinese tourists. They didn't dress like Americans. And I thought of you."
Some people like to greet me with "Ni-Hao-Ma?" (How are you) and immediately follow by "Xie Xie" (thank you).
Occasionally, people said random Chinese, including "Shuai ge" (handsome brother) and "wo yo yi ge hua-sheng zai du chi ni mian." (I have a peanut in my bellybutton.) And some I can't even post them here.
